10 Types Of Empaths

While being an Empath can have its many positives and benefits, it can also weigh us down heavily with confusion, disorientation and anxiety. That is why it's important to put a name to what we individually experience to better understand ourselves, and identify others who share the same abilities as us.

For this reason, I have included below a list, and small description, of each type of Empath. By understanding who you are, what gifts you possess and where you stand in life, you will be able to begin the path of Involution.

Claircognizant Empath

This is usually defined by the ability to simply know something needs to be done, or is true or misleading, without having any basis in logic or reason. Often this type of Empath will just "know" when something is right to do, or not, or when someone is lying or hiding something.

Emotionally Receptive Empath

Most Empaths are emotionally receptive, and can physically and emotionally feel the emotions from other people before they are even expressed.

Physically Receptive Empath

Many Empaths are also physically receptive to other people's illnesses and bodily pains. This often manifests itself in the Empath's own body, and can be an especially useful skill in healing.
Fauna Empath

This type of Empath can hear, feel and interact with animals.

Flora Empath

This type of Empath can communicate with plants, being able to receive physical and emotional signals.

Geomantic Empath

The Geomantic Empath can read the energy and signals transmitted by the earth. Many are able to feel/predict natural disasters before they occur.

Medium Empath

This type of Empath can either see, hear, feel (or a combination of these elements) spirits, usually from deceased individuals.

Psychometric Empath

This manifests itself as the ability to receive information, energy and impressions from physical objects, e.g. photographs, clothing, jewelry, utensils, etc.

Precognitive Empath

This type of Empath can feel the occurrence of an event or situation before it actually happens. This is usually manifested in dreams, or as physical/emotional sensations, for instance: dread, anxiety, or excitement.

Telepathic Empath

The ability to accurately read a person's unexpressed thoughts is the main defining feature of the Telepathic Empath.

I scored around 60 as I am showing different empathetic traits.

I am usually emotionally receptive and occasionally physically receptive but its likely to be fewer in recent times.
Medium , psychometric and telepathic dream empath seems likely too.
As for flora, I’d say I have a natural energy around plants, almost like being replenished back into the earth.
The geomantic and precognitive train of my thoughts, are most likely to come and go.

I didn't bother with the quiz or reading the OP because I have the attention span of a six-year-old, but I will say that I do experience empathy. I have almost all of the symptoms of AS, except for lack of empathy and difficulty with body language. I'm kind of doubtful about whether lack of empathy is really an inherent autistic trait anyway.

Most people process emotions in a way that they can manage, whether attention or memory span is material or not. Empathy is about how you feel, what impact others and your immediate environment have on you. :)

I tried to post a video earlier, however my new browser settings vs the cloudfare ones won't yet accept the updated plug-ins.
However, if you decide to keep your old browser settings , then you should be able to view this short video about it.
Fred Astaire is in it, with Audrey Hepburn.

A lack of empathy is not apart of ASD, rather, we often struggle with expressing our empathy.

This is definitely my problem. I can feel empathy for others, but I am very clumsy at expressing it and have very little idea of how to help. From what I've read on this forum and elsewhere, I suspect this is very common.

Is that Illyria in your avatar, AuroraBorealisGazer?

49% I don't deal well with or understand my own emotions well at all. I can see them in others though and I know what I'm 'supposed' to do.

I think I am closest to the Claircognizant Empath description, with some aspects of a Precognitive empath.

I'm an 80. I have empathy, but I don't like expressing it. There's a fine line between empathy and sympathy and I never like showing sympathy - I sometimes end up crying and losing control of my emotions so I do my best not to show either. I don't like feeling sorry for someone. I'll empathize if necessary then try to fix the problem or see how I can cheer them up or take their mind off of the problem.

42% - though I confess, I gave neutral answers to a few questions that baffled me too much to answer quickly, so I'd expect a pretty big margin of error.

I was identified as alexithymic during my evaluation and diagnosis of AS - so the borderline impaired result isn't terribly surprising to me. I got similar results when EQ tests were administered by the professionals too. The difficulty answering some of the questions was probably down to alexithymia as well - I just ran straight into a brick wall when trying to find an answer, as I often am when asked how I "feel" about something (though I might be able to get back to you in a week or two once I've ruminated enough!)
