From my experience, it's the way that the people in our lives treats us that can deplete us of our energy. If someone is treated like crap, they're not going to have much energy. Family and relatives can be the worse sometimes.

If you mean mental energy, then yes and no.

Aspergers doesn't affect your total energy, but it makes you use different amounts of energy for several tasks; socialisation for example.
This means that you will have less energy to spend, but in other places you will have more available (when working on your special interest for example)

I used to think it did but I have chronic fatigue and a vitamin d deficiency, and maybe it's related to inattentive ADHD too. Every couple of hours after doing a task I get tired. Even after going to the shops for 10 minutes.

There probably is a mental drain on us with on sensory issues and our anxieties causing distress for us throughout most of the day.

Do you experience social exhaustion? This can be both sensory related and because we have to work twice as hard to socialize than NTs. Happens to introverts too.

Our tendency to over-think and over-analyse just about everything causes a feeling of permanent burnout. Being out there in the open world causes a strain due to over stimulus. While a neuro-typical may be thinking about 2 or 3 different things in any given situation, we're thinking about at least 20-30 different things. Not only are we thinking about the task in hand, but we're also thinking about how other people are perceiving us, how our social skills (or lack of) stack up against our peers and where the social boundaries are. It's like we're constantly playing a game of juggle and fear dropping a ball somewhere. It's tiring work.

If Aspergers don't give you less energy then why am I tired? This morning, I had 2 cups of coffee & still tired, I want to take a nap. I read cold weather can make you tired, but it not that cold, it's in the 60s.
