It looks like malware and it seems to be coming from an advertisement on this site somehow.

I'm getting 'update Google Chrome' and 'update Flash' pop-ups, and frequently when I click on a topic it redirects to a different site, basically a commercial advertisement page.

I get the "win a $100 Amazon Gift Card" scam redirects.

IMHO, WP is pretty much unusable without an ad-blocker. A perfect example of a site that allows any and all ads to run... Sad but true :/

If I don't get weird/scam ads I get extremely slow loading ads that makes the page take forever to load. Haven't had any pop-up ads though, but sucks that you guys are experiencing that s**t.

I am afraid to close any of the pop-ups because I am worried that doing so will unleash ransomware.

i have blocked all ads.

i get it. server costs, everything costs money to run. but it's like a choice, supporting this site by allowing ads and being able to bloody use it.

there should be an other way to support it.

How do you block them?

Install any kind of ad-blocking add-on for your browser.

Here are a few options depending on which browser you use:
Image Google Chrome: AdBlock
Image Mozilla Firefox: AdBlock Plus
Image Internet Explorer: AdBlock Plus
Image Safari: AdBlock Plus
Image Opera: AdBlock Plus

Google around if you're using a different browser and you'll find one that works for you.

Note: I'd recommend turning off the ad-blocker for websites that you use a lot and that don't have annoying or scam/malware ads, to help them out.
