Quote I found on the Ultimate Guitar forums:

"What's black metal? Is it like regular metal but with black people? Isn't that kind of rascist?"

That made my day. I don't really listen to black metal, though. Sorry.

oh, i had a phase when i listened to bm. :)
my favorites back then were old mans child & limbonic art.
however, with the arrival of the first thorns album marked the first step towards industrial and power electronics to satisfy the need for brutal music.

my moody side went from default goth metal to neofolk, military pop, classical, etcetera...

Hey they sound pretty interesting! I'll have to look into them some more.

I love a lot of black metal, these among them:

- Summoning <----(probably the one I listen to most - awesome epic stuff)
- Enslaved
- Bathory
- Emperor
- Burzum
- Ulver (Bergtatt era)
- Dissection
- Drudkh
- Abigor
- Satyricon
- Beherit
- Weakling
- Windir
- Wyrd
- Wolves in the Throne Room
- In the Woods (Heart of the Ages album)
- Blut Aus Nord
- Xasthur

Unless, can you count them as black metal?

I used to have the Nordlands album by Bathory. I prefered it for the folkier type moments thought, really. Nordlands itself was a cool track.

The Nordland stuff is awesome - really among my favorites from Bathory. "Ring of Gold", a purely acoustic folk tune on Nordland I is one of my all-time favorite songs from anyone. I also love "Foreverdark Woods" which comes right after that.

Hammerheart is my favorite Bathory album though.

Slayer isn't Black Metal. Slayer is Death Metal.
