This paper focuses on the way that media outlets minimise the crimes of parents who murder disabled offspring:

It's something we have posted about on WP on and off in the past. With Autism Awareness coming up in April, this is a timely piece.

Thanks CR. New Zealand is, sadly, not exempt from the phenomenon either. We had another example of it recently, here is a commentary on that case:

That article linked to the following:

There seems to be a lot of similarity to the US case of Kelli Stapleton, who tried to kill her daughter Issy when she felt that she could no longer handle the child. Issy, too, was very large and strong physically, possibly a side effect of a lifetime of trying a smorgasbord of drugs-her brother and sister are very slim. Kelli had lots of support for her daughter, but never felt it was enough, unlike Donella Knox Kelli did frequently lash out verbally and physically at various people she perceived to be unhelpful. Finally, she tried to poison herself and Issy via a barbecue lit in a closed van. Kelli had also used risperidone to sedate her daughter before killing her.

And in other news, the Pope is Catholic.

Besides I do not need to go to the media for this. I can find a whole bunch of justifications right here on Wrong Planet.
