I know I'm likely reading to deeply into this but there was a sheep named "Bellwether" and look at the definition of the term:

"derived from the Middle English bellewether and refers to the practice of placing a bell around the neck of a castrated ram (a wether) leading his flock of sheep."

Sounds more like a Eunuch.

I would agree but the character is addressed as female.
