This has been on my mind for god knows how long now and I just needed to post this somewhere. I've always been easily pressured, anxious and insecure and ever since hearing that 17 was the average age to lose one's virginity, I have hated myself and felt extremely depressed (until losing it last night, at 18). It feels like I'm still obsessed with the concept of it, and place way more importance on it than I should. Now that I've done the deed it feels like less of a big deal but I can't get my head around why it's something that worried me so much. Does anyone else feel the same? Does anyone else feel like they had to lose it at a certain age just to feel "normal" because all the others are doing it? I just needed to get this off my chest.

Just a little note that I didn't do it purely out of insecurity. I did feel ready and okay.

Back when I still had my virginity, I was very eager to lose it. It's completely normal to feel this way.
