Food can feel like it makes or breaks my day.

This morning I had some fries takeout because I was in a rush to get a somewhere and I felt angry and unhappy for a few hours.

Later for dinner I had boiled rice, stir fried vegetables and cashew nets fried in coconut oil with ginger and chinese five spice, and on the side spinach and miso paste and I felt the opposite. Now I am calm and at peace.

Does anyone else notice food acting as medicine for them?

Diet makes a tremendous difference. Diet (enough & the right foods), sleep, exercise & meditation, and having positive mental habits -- when these are right for me I am mostly happy and resilient toward almost all stress. When they're wrong, if they are wrong enough, it can even lead to suicidal thoughts. It's like wearing armor. These are big factors for everyone. As an aspie, they have a special importance because it helps me keep meltdowns at bay and bounce back quickly from the constant social challenges.
