With all the bad news I thought this story shows there are people willing to help our community without expecting anything in return

What a great guy for willing to help this boy get a haircut

That's cool. Cool barber shop. I'm almost as bad about the barber as the dentist. My mom trims my hair carfully and slowly while I'm immursed in playing my video game.

This is why you can't make blanket negative statements about neurotypicals.

That is downright awesome. I once ran out of a salon screaming into a busy parking lot. Now I mostly let my hair look like crap and rarely get it cut. I do hate when my mom tells them not to dry my hair because I'm sensitive to the noise and they try to do it anyway.

How bad are you about the dentist?

Bad enough to require being sedated and anesthetized.

So do you go to a special needs dentist? I did, until the dentist retired and the practice closed.

Usually. But I'm too looped or asleep for it to matter much.

What was your first dentist experience? Did you get anesthesia then or were you tortured through it?

You want to hear something funny?

I tend to do better with the dentist when I can actually see, on a machine or something, what he/she is doing.

What upsets me, these days, is the "surprise element."

When I was 12 years old, I had to get 4 teeth extracted for braces. I ran from the dentist chair a few times. My father got really upset because he was spending lots of money on me---a few thousand dollars (in 1973). So I went back to the chair, and it didn't turn out too bad at all.

Same, some are good though... Usually older military guys are quick, little chat, all about getting you in and out. Then some want to interrogate your ass. I chose to cut my own hair, I've gotten decent at it.

The one I have now and plan to keep is quiet and quick, the way I like it. I've had the interrogating kind before and that's annoying. What's even more annoying is having them take too long when all I want is a hatchet job that will last about a month and to be done with it.

The first dentist experience I remember was to have my front baby teeth extracted becase I did a face plant while playing with my cousin. They held me down, stuck something in my mouth and then put a mask over my face while I was struggling and screaming until the gas took affect.
