As someone pointed out in another forum and I was thinking, the internet did just fine for like 30 years before 2015's net neutrality, so there's really no need to panic.

..except that the intention of the repeal of Net Neutrality laws is to allow major broadband corporations to f**k with things for profit, which could have devastating effects on everyone's use of the internet & how much money they have to pay for access.. further increasing the divide between the haves and have nots in terms of wealth of knowledge, access to news and information, finances etc.

Why after 30 years did this suddenly become a threat a couple of years ago?

Trump and his swamp. One of his campaign promises was to censor the internet and get it under control. He wants it done. He's also handing big $ to big business. This would achieve both while f*****g everyone else.

there is already enough information readily available via a cursory google search, about the very real dangers that the FCC's action will certainly bring about, because of human nature being what it is [evil] and capitalism being what it is [evil] and monopolies being what they are [evil]. what the FCC did amplified the evils of monopoly power in the marketplace. the FCCs chair has been quoted as saying he did this for [among others] his previous company [Verizon] that he led before his FCC appointment.
