Are there any other disorders/etc. that may look like ASD but aren't? Particularly something that seems similar to autism but never showed up as a child, only later in life? Is there anything like this?

ADHD is the big one, as well as anxiety, OCD, depression, BPD, and several other personality disorders. However, if you've been diagnosed with ASD, you more than likely have it, coupled with a co-morbid condition if a lot of your symptoms overlap with other mental or physical illnesses.

Schizoid Personality Disorder can be mixed up with autism. I've been diagnosed with both.

A couple psychs i saw said I had Aspergers but when I was officially tested, I was told I have Aspergers but it's due to SPD & NOT autism. I joined a forum for SPD for alittle bit & those people were real jerks/a$$hats. I feel I relate to Aspies aLOT better than Schizoids so I really believe I was misdiagnosed & say I have Aspergers undiagnosed. My GP thinks I have it along with the psychs Social Security sends me to for my reviews so I might as well just say I have AS

Is there anything else other than schizoid PD? (Also got kind of confused because I think of SPD as sensory processing disorder.) Like anything that might seem like some mild autism?

They kept going on about how they hated everything including each other. The most mature member on that forum was a 13 year-old girl

I’m beginning to suspect I have a dissociative disorder, possibly OSDD (other specified dissociative disorder) and a lot of things (delayed emotional reactions, high pain tolerance, feeling uncomfortable and distant/ unnatural in social situations, not feeling like I’m in my body/ clumsiness and walking into things, memory lapses, forgetting people’s names/ faces) could be due to dissociative states, instead of autism.

I’m still trying to figure this out.

Oppositional Defiant Disorder in a kid. My parents were told I might have that at one point when I was a kid cuz I had LOTS of meltdowns & arguments with my mom but that was because I have other mental & physical disabilities besides autism that noone understood & it stressed me out aLOT.

Fragile-X Syndrome has similar symptoms to ASD, although autism can go with it but even a non-autistic with FXS can still have some of the challenges an autistic has.

People with FXS can have difficulties making friends, be emotionally immature, dislike loud noises, and have stimming behaviours like hand flapping. Usually girls with FXS have average or higher IQ while boys with it usually have mental retardation with it (although not always).
