I'm in a sharin' mood and I hopes you be too!

Share the title of the book you're currently reading.

Here! I'll start!

Right now I'm reading Introduction to the Theory of Narrative by Mieke Bal. Next I'm going to be reading Silver Screen Fiend: Learning About Life from an Addiction to Film by Patton Oswalt.

I am reading "The Good Luck of Right Now" by Matthew Quick and have nearly finished it. I love this book, written from the viewpoint of an AS man (aged late thirties) though the "A" word is never specifically mentioned.

After the death of his mother, whom he loves, he begins a correspondence with Richard Gere, takes in a defrocked priest, tries to rescue a victim of domestic violence, and laces all this with compelling reflections and comments on living as a "different" person. It's a beautiful depiction, and the writing is wonderful.

I think it would warm the heart of most autists, it certainly had that effect on me. 9/10.

I'm reading The Impending Crisis by David M. Potter. It's not the best Civil War-related history that I've read, but some of the information was entirely new to me. I also just finished a sci-fi, Echo, by Jack McDevitt, Periodic Tales: A cultural history of the elements, and The Grave's a Fine and Private Place (a chemistry-based mystery).

Unfortunately, my pleasure reading days are over for the time being. I have to read The Virginian and a stack of titles on Constitutional law for school. After that, I'm hoping to pick up The Magicians by Lev Grossman and a biography of Varina Davis (Confederate First Lady).

Watership Down, Tailchaser's Song, Of Mice & Men, Animal Farm, and The Hobbit.

(already read all of these. Just loved them so much that I decided to read them again)

Oh, and Rumble Fish.

(these are just a fraction of the amount of books I absolutely revere)

Oh, and something from an Alternate History discussion forum called "Our Kampf". It's about what it would have looked like if Adolf Hitler were a communist instead of a fascist.

Slow Train to Switzerland by Diccon Bewes. So far I've learned from it women used to walk up Mont Blanc, which was mostly covered by a glacier (hardly any of it is left today) in hobnail boots and those skirts with stiffened petticoat cages underneath to make them look dainty. Imagine the discomfort. These days people zoom up on a cable car.

^gosh, how amazing.

I am re-reading "Neurotribes". What a magnificent job Silberman did with this book, the extent of his research is still breathtaking to read. No author has done more to unravel the painful, complex and misunderstood history of AS and the impacts on AS people of the decades of ignorance (which continue).

Thanks for reminding me about that book. I intend on reading it. My mother and I watched him give a talk on it at the Hay on Wye Book Festival and afterwards I met him and got a signed copy. He was a very warm and friendly man. The effort he has put in as an NT to understanding and seeing the positive side of Autism is awesome.

Totally agree with all you said. Let me know what you think and its impact on you after you finish it. The first time I read it, it took my breath away. Some pages affected me so much I cried.
