Hi. Hope you are all doing well. I was diagnosed with Asperger's just over 10 years ago, when I was in my teens. I'm kind of disappointed I didn't join this forum sooner, because it seems like it could have been a great resource over the years. I guess for many of those years I've just been pretty stubborn about accepting my diagnosis, and most of the time I've avoided reading about and discussing autism.

So long as I was a university student, it was kind of easy to put autism to the side, and imagine I was just a "normal" guy, especially when I had a girlfriend and everything seemed to be going smoothly. But now that I'm living fully independently, without a lecture schedule and paper deadlines, in a major city without any family nearby, suddenly many challenges have come up which my NT peers don't seem affected by. So I'm humbly admitting defeat and embracing my diagnosis. The more I read about it, the more my childhood and adolescence just seems to make so much more sense.

Anyway, here I am at last, I look forward to meeting you all in the forum discussions. I hope you will accept me to your "planet".

Welcome, Torba.

I was diagnosed much later in life, but I understand just what you mean about apparently being able to cope until the demands of life change around us.
