I got a job for the first time in my entire adult life (I'm 30 years old). The job is I have to pick up garbage for two hours, three days per week. I get to use a grabber and wear gloves so I don't have to bend over or touch garbage. I get paid in cash so it won't interfere with my SSI benefits. I used to never be interested in getting a job but now I'm motivated to get that electronic drum set.
Congratulations. You will find having a job is an addictive thing. It is easier emotionally to work for a place where people are friendly and understand you, than it is is to claim benefits. I was on benefits for years while I part time worked and even when I was at university. I was always scared that if I started a full time job that I wouldn't be able to cope with the long 8 hour days and the lack of free time. Turned out that the days aren't wall to wall work and I can occasionally post on a forum or grab a sandwich and it gave me something to do. My mind doesn't turn in on itself so much now I work and I wish I'd been able to start my job 10 years earlier than I did. But thats life eh?
Wish you luck and hope it proves enjoyable.
