"Location" field in profile?

Does the system have any unstated requirements regarding the "Location" field in a user's profile, in order for the contents of that field to show up on a user's posts? For example, is there a maximum number of characters? Forbidden characters?

Not generally. For example, yours displays "New York, Queens" (however you typed it). I could put a period there and it would display.
