I just watched Le souffle au coeur

Quite Oedipal. I didn't like it, but it is highly rated. I found it to be boring.

"Mon père, ce héros", starring Gérard Depardieu, is quite funny

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102465/

A man (Gérard Depardieu) brings his teenaged daughter with him on a vacation in Mauritius. For whatever reason (teenagers can be like this), she is ashamed to admit that he is her father. To impress a boy, she makes up all kinds of lies about him--and makes him out to be some kind of a secret agent, who is her sugar daddy. So, everyone in the resort thinks that he is a disgusting pedophile.

They also made an English-language remake a few years later, also starring Gérard Depardieu.

Another Gérard Depardieu movie--"Les valseuses"--a very weird movie. I don't really recommend it, although I gather that it has a cult following. Maybe watch it if you like weird movies, with a touch of T&A.

Louis de Funès is a brilliant comedic actor. I also recently watched " La grande vadrouille"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060474/

This one I recommend. Very funny.

Pépé le Moko (1937)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029453/

An excellent movie! About a French gangster hiding out in the Casbah of Algiers.

An American remake, called simply Algiers, came out the following year.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029855

Even with the adorable Hedy Lamarr in the lead female role, the American remake put me to sleep.

I watched maybe one-half of Les bronzés--reviewers on IMDB generally liked it. But, maybe you have to be French to appreciate the jokes.

I then watched Le Magnifique https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070354

Pas mal. A Jean-Paul Belmondo flick, co-starring Jacqueline Bisset.

I just watched La course à l'échalote. Pierre Richard is hilarious.

Jane Birkin co-starred.

I don't watch French films nearly as often as I used to, but feel it's worth mentioning one called L'Ennui from 1998. This has a male character in a lead role who reminds me of an awful former work colleague of mine who was a control freak and a worshipper of Margaret Thatcher, lol. The actor even physically resembled the person in question.

Interestingly an American film called American Psycho was released a year or two later which featured a character with very similar looks and attributes.

Death in the Garden/La mort en ce jardin

An interesting jungle flick.
