Is your artistic output influenced by your autism? How so?

(This applies to visual artists, as well as writers and other creatives)

What effect has your autism had on the things that you create? Does it affect the subject matter your work with, the medium, your workflow?

I honestly don't know.I never really thought about it before.

I suppose it comes up when I get into deep focus when I'm painting. Or when I can't paint because my brain has decided my creative outlet is currently minecraft.

I don't really paint things to express a message. So I don't think it has much influence on subject matter.

I do think my aversion to some textures and smells would stop me from using certain mediums.

well, I take it most people don't write a book simply for fun, and stay focused on it for 2 years, so my book being an SI has definitely helped.

Difficult to say, since I don't have a non-autistic me to compare output with.

How would I know? I've never not been autistic, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I don't think I like art because I'm autistic. It's never been a special interest, just something I like. It may affect the subject of my art I guess

My art and writing is based around people so I don't think my AS has an affect on that.

I've often assumed that my writing output has been influenced by my autism, though I'm not exactly sure if I can put my finger on the exact "how and why."

What the exact specifics are is a question that I don't know can actually be answered, but in terms of generalities;
art begins in the mind & is expressed via using the body
autism happens in the mind & also affects the body
therefore autism affects artistic output

It would be hard to answer this as I can't get outside of my suspected autism / ADHD / CPTSD (in the mix) to be objective. I can only speak from my experience. Since it has always been with me, it has to affect all I do, not just art. I see things in a very unique way.

I mean, my singing sometimes resembles the autistic screeching trope...
