I honestly just had time to skim through it, but I liked what I read.
Do you have anything published?

Thanks for skimming through!

I haven't published anything. Well, except for a lot of shite in the "scientific" literature.

I just took a creative writing class at a community college, and this short story was one of my products.

The best of luck with your creative writing. Perhaps you might be interested in self-publishing, which can be done very easily on Amazon. More than one of us here on WP have gone that route. Back in my college days, self-publishing had a bad rep, but these days it's gained more respect. That's especially since traditional, mainstream publishing has become more about being a business selling a product, rather than about the actual art. Best to steer clear of vanity press publishing, as those charlatans try to take advantage of writers by misrepresenting themselves as self-publishing.

Thanks for the tips! If I write more, then I will look into Amazon.

Another challenge, I think, is that people, in general, aren't reading as much as they used to. With the computer age, we have a lot more distractions.

My teacher thought that my short story was good. I explored a lot of themes, from religion, to the academic publishing scam, to sexism, to farmers being potentially outnumbered by the scientists studying them.

For the time being, I have my website.
