Hey everyone!

I've recently been working to accept my autism. While I don't want to pursue an official diagnosis, it seems pretty clear to me that this is what I've been dealing with. Hopefully this means I can learn to manage better.

I got extremely isolated during COVID when I had to live with unsupportive people, and now I'm having a hard time rejoining the world, and dealing with masking/unmasking effectively. So here is a small step toward that.

For myself, I'm a trans man, a data admin at a non profit, and an artist. On good days, I love horror and dark minimal design. I've been getting into ambient music and cassette tapes. My cat is my best friend.

I really like the oldschool forum format here. Good to meet you all. I'd love to make some connections!

Hey there! It can be hard to deal with realizing you are autistic. I do think finding likeminded people, like the ones on this website, is helpful. What kind of art do you practice? I love to paint in everything but oils. My cat is my best friend too What’s your favorite horror movie?

Hey, yeah I'm hoping so too. I heard about this forum from Devon Price's book and that's what he seems to think.

I actually like oils quite a bit. I love the sense of history with them, and how versatile they can be. But I know they can be a lot to manage. I also use acrylics a lot.

Have you tried gouache? That matte finish is gorgeous, but they seem so particular about how they're used.

My favorite horror film at the moment is probably The Lighthouse, but I also like classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Greetings! I'm new here too. Did anyone say, Bob Ross? I watched him last night for some cool downtime. Nothing like watching him paint a snowy scene in the middle of a heat wave! Finding out you're autistic is like finally having the right code to work with.
