This is something that is new to me. I’ll just take the city bus to downtown, have a few drinks then take the bus back. There’s this one bar that I’ve gotten to like, mainly because there’s a gorgeous bartender. On weekends that bar and others in town are much more packed, mostly with college students so a lot of people kinda close to my age, at least. I’m still young enough to be able to blend in a crowd of college students.

Going to bars is something that aspies often have an issue with, due to sensory sensitivities. Noise etc.

If you don't have issues with going to bars, then you are lucky, as a person with autism.

That sounds like a great idea, if you're comfortable going. Don't feel obligated to have alcohol though.
Lots of people just have soda or water, or even a small bite to eat.

I actually do like drinking alcohol. I’ve been trying out a variety of beers.

Please don’t try to approach the “gorgeous” bartender.

I go to the local bar occasionally to have one of their speciality mixers. But I def find the lighting and noise overwhelming after a short while

idk if I have a definitive favorite. I’ve been trying some light beers like Busch Light and Coors Light.

This whole “going to the bars to meet people” experiment doesn’t seem to be working. Nothing ever seems to work. Instead, the status quo remains for me.

Honestly you should be trying more local brews, Iowa has a lot of good beer. If you like, anything amber/maripan is good. Ask the bartender for recommendations. TBH, going out to a bar just to get something like a busch light is fine, but I personally wouldn't do it. You can get that beer wherever, especially all over the midwest.
