If you play video games for example with an eye patch (over one eye obviously) does the image on the screen look different compared to playing games with 2 eyes?

Do you wear an eye patch, Jamesy?

Just wondering if it would effect depth perception when playing games

I don't understand why you would care unless you had an eye patch yourself and played video games also?

I wore an eye patch at a young age due to a squint problem
these were all 2d games, ps1 windows 97, so an interference in depth perception didn't really affect me that much

Eye strain was a problem though, focusing on the screen with one eye, does put a great deal of strain on the eyes. so frequent breaks were needed.

I think it did help me become a better gamer, without the ability to scan the screen and keyboard at the same time. you learn to use muscle memory for the right letters on the keyboard for certain movements of the character.

Wore an eye patch as a kid, cuz I had lazy eye. Hated it, mostly cuz my weaker eye couldn't read well.

Honestly I don't know. I don't think depth perception is all it's cracked up to be.

Windows 97? Don't you mean Windows 98? Windows 97 never existed.

It seems to me that if you're playing on a flat, i.e. 2 dimensional, screen then there is no true depth perception even in a '3D' game like a first person shooter. It's all simulated.

So I would guess that wearing an eye patch wouldn't make any difference.

VR would be very affected though.

My tv has a ‘zoom mode’ on it.

Not sure if that would help someone who wears an eye patch improve depth perception though.
