Are things like the CIA just really advanced "mean girls"?

I am terrible at privacy personal information type stuff.
I don't know what I should keep private and what I shouldn't ask about because I
don't have a good idea how it can be used against me, or the social norms about what
makes something embarrassing.

This got me thinking about govt intelligence agencies. Because I'm bad at online security type stuff too.
Maybe these behaviours are kind of NT derived?
If you think about it NTs are always trying to figure out what each other are thinking and what is popular.
Whereas we are studying trains or something.
If you think about aggressive forms of understanding what others are thinking you start with
gossip- high school mean girls type stuff. Collecting information about people, and bullying them with it.
Then eventually you get to CIA type behaviours - collecting information about countries and murdering people with it.
The CIA is just a really advanced version of the high school mean girls.

Would an autistic society necessarily have a CIA?

What privacy does the CIA primarily collect? My country has a low crime rate and convenient life., which I believe is related to low privacy.

I am talking about intelligence agencies in general.
They collect information about other states - anything of strategic value.
Can be about military equipment etc.

But I suppose NSA mass surveillance is pushing the analogy a bit.

The CIA is for spying on foreign countries.

The FBI is for fighting crime within the US. Or in theory thats how its supposed to work. Two seperate domains.

Both have adversaries. The FBI has the Mafia. The CIA has the KGB (or whatever successor organization to the Soviet KGB exists in the modern Russian Republic).

I dont think that either Putin (former KGB agent himself), nor Pablo Escobar, would appreciate being compared to Lindsey Lohan in the movie "Mean Girls".

So..you kinda lost me.

The CIA and "mean girls" have little in common.

The CIA have more in common with the military than they do with "mean girls".

I've never seen Mean Girls but I can imagine they'd like to be similar to the CIA.

Not the other way around.

On the other hand...if you consider Miley Cyrus to be a "mean girl", then maybe...

I like that your justification was "Putin would be offended".

Usually gossiping mean girls are all about advancing their own personal interests, whereas intelligence agencies actions are intended to advance the interests of the state they serve.

Sometimes bad things happen in the world.

For instance, sometimes countries attack other countries for no apparent reason. Sometimes the attack involves killing people, or capturing territory, or forcing their will on other nations or large groups of people.

If a nation was content to just be surprised every time something like that happened then (a) it couldn't do as good a job protecting it's people and their interests, and (b) it would look stupid.

National intelligence organizations allow a nation to be better aware of what is going on around it.

Are the organizations perfect? Heck, NO! But we need them.

Mean Girls and the CIA have nothing in common. Mean girls pick on people who are different and the CIA spies on foreign countries like Austin Powers spies on Dr Evil.

you should have someone teach you what to keep private vs public. it is a very serious skill to have.
