I called my GP today to follow up on a report for my ASD assessment. There are recommendations on this report and one of them is to have DBT therapy. They clearly have received the report from the ASD specialists but the admin team are saying they haven't and won't let me get a word in to say I can see it attached on my file when I look in the app.

Sorry to hear that. I'm in London too and am lucky to be registered with a good surgery.

This isn't your fault. You aren't struggling to get your point across; you're being denied the chance to speak. I've run into admin people like that who are too busy or flustered to listen. If it were me I would call again and ask to speak directly to my GP, without telling the admin people why; if they ask, I'd say something like 'It's to follow up on my recent consultation.'

Hope that helps.

Yes. Especially with doctors as I get nurvous. The autism people know more about me than doctors do because I tended to get "Mindblank" when visiting doctors.

The admin team at my GP's surgery is friendly, but not very competent.

I think that is a problem with a lot of GP's surgeries across the country.

That's a disturbing story, with the admin people lying. JamesW's advice looks worth a try.

I don't know if there's anybody you can report them to if you're not getting anywhere. If nothing else works, maybe your local member of parliament could give them a kick. I've known that to be very effective on uncooperative bureaucrats.

Yes.

Whether or not I'm given a space and a chance to speak, and actually be heard and taken seriously by everyone...

... There's just something unnatural with the way that I have to process language.

I'm not afraid of expressing or even screwing it all up to a point of social suicide.
So 'confidence' or even 'positivity' or 'good vibes' isn't my problem.

It's still frustrating to not be able to get my point across.
I wish I'm just this concise with words person. I hate words.

I'm not quite sure how to answer that...
Give me half an hour and I'm sure I can work out an overly convoluted response 8)

does your app allow you to send messages to the Dr or an associate (nurses, support staff?) ? If so maybe emailing your request would be easier. You could complete your message/request without interruption, they could see it and respond on line. I know its available in my own medical access program, but that might vary depending on where you are and what medical system is used.

Yes, without interruption. 8) Interrupting is among a bad service provider's best tools for getting rid of clients.

If I try to get my point across, I struggle. My odds of success are well under 1%. If I try to tell medical people that I have a pre-existing condition that needs to be taken into account, they ignore it and wind up doing more harm than good.
