I was diagnosed late in life and have worked since high school but I always have to change jobs every couple of years because I begin to loose touch with myself and reality.

What lines of action should I take legally to reapply for disability? Is it even worth applying if I’m currently working part time? My problem is that I can’t quit my job because my family relies on me but I’m incapable of “working” at the same time. It’s a negative cycle.

Proving that you need to be on disability is hard unless you have obvious physical evidence, such as an MRI showing problems in your brain, versus "expert" opinion.

Who can get Disability
Individuals may be eligible for Disability if they have:

A disability or blindness, and
Enough work history.

Most adults with autism spectrum disorder will not qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). In order to qualify for SSDI, you must have held a job for the required number of quarters for a person of your age. Since autism is present from birth, an applicant with a significant work history may find it hard to prove that his disorder affects his ability to hold a job.

I think the average government response, if following the law, etc.... would be to turn you down. Keep reading, I have a better idea....

There ARE a LOT of things that can make a person lose touch with reality. You could have an allergy, be poisoned, have a deficiency, there could be a cycle someplace that is off.

Speaking of with, there is a type of infection you can get, from something called ERGOT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergot This can make you go NUTS, and can even lead to death!

So basically I am telling you that you may just have some DUMB luck, and a doctor may be able to help you out, but WORK TOWARD A CURE!! !! !! !! !!

If you have something like I showed above, it could be a simple fix, or a deadly/complicated hiding of symptoms. You probably want a fix.

If you can. you might want to try to figure out common things about when you lose touch with reality. It could be what you wear, where you go, what you eat, air you breath, experiences you have, etc.....
