They do, in fact Max explains to Mary that he doesn't wish to be cured of his Aspergers and he is proud that he's an "Aspie". :)

In hindsight it's kinda weird to think that back then Aspie was a term for people like us to feel a sense of acceptance and pride, but now it's politically incorrect to use that word because the guy who discovered "Aspergers" was a Nazi. :|
