You'd think lithium in drinking water would help people with bipolar disorder.

But not really. Lithium pills are incredibly dangerous and have all kinds of horrid side effects. I feel so bad that people with bipolar can't take anything better. :(

Of course Lithium exists in tap water.  So does just about every other naturally-occurring element.  This is nothing new or news-worthy -- more of a click-bait scare tactic used by commercial pay-to-view websites like Science Direct.

I agree with you. Minerals can leech out when exposed to water, which can get into a drinking water supply. I lived near a place that had naturally high levels of uranium in the water well. Once that information got out in the newspaper, people freaked out. The city had to pay for a new well on a different section of land that they owned, which caused a large increase in property taxes for the city. Could be worse though, plutonium has been found before in drinking water near a certain nuclear site that used the element in nuclear weapons production. Serious remediation to fix the issue had to be done on that one.
