I find it difficult to get along with other people. I'm either whistling, talking, humming, focus too long on a task, say something inappropriate, or am otherwise bothering people. Does anyone relate?

I was hoping there might be some solutions so we may better get along in life.

Well, anyone that comes up with a solution is going to be very, very rich. In the original self-help book "The Road Less Travelled" by M.Scott Peck, the opening line is "Life is difficult". It's difficult for us, and NT's too. Having good social relationships is a SKILL. Skills take practice, and if you work at it, as the years go by you will get better at relationships.

Give us one or two of your specific problems to work on...

Such as not knowing what is appropriate to talk about or say at home versus what is appropriate to talk about or say at work.

Anyone? Does anyone know? I find it difficult to draw the line. Where is the line anyway?

Well, give an example of home life [say religious/liberal] and work, say as a doctor, musician or lawyer... You asking very general questions. (Off to bed now, it's past midnight uk time, will catch up with u in about 12hrs)

Home life: Religious Christian conservative Texans in Minnesota. Dad is the only source of income. Mom is diabetic. Sister is scary. 5 birds, 3 rats, 1 lizard. Don't watch TV, only videos. Have more book density than the library of Congress. Homeschool family.

Work: I have worked for several fast food places, Carasim Coffee-quit, Burger King twice-quit both times, Wal-mart Deli-fired, McDonald's-let go because Wal-Mart fired me. Now I'm unemployed and have been for 8 months.

OK, I can relate to your home life. In these circumstances, your obviously not [shouldnt] make jokes or talk about sex, drugs etc. Where as at work with your co-workers you might get away with it. (An observation the jobs you gave are all PEOPLE jobs! At this stage in your life you're setting yourself up for a fall. What about working with animals, say in a rescue home?). Got to go out and meet friends [OK, the truth, I\'m back with toad]. Bak with u ina couple of hours

That's criteria for diagnosis, so we all have that problem.

Now the relating part...I'm not sure about that.

The point I\'m trying to make is, easier to practice relating to people when you see the same few people every day. Anybody agree?

It would be easier working in a small group than with the general public; that's what I try to tell my parents, but they think a job is a job and I should work anywhere. I plan to go to college and become an electronics technician: I'd work with fewer people and over problems I care to relate to instead of, "my food is too hot" "my food is too cold" "you sliced this too thin" "you sliced this too thick" "what do you mean you don't have grilled chicken" "what do you mean you don't have biscuits" "I want to change my order again." 8O  I want to fix electronic circuits, computers, etc. I don't want to work a cash register all my life.

Could you take some courses in electronics/computers? Not only would you be happier in such a career but you'd make more money.

I'm planning on going to Saint Paul college for that purpose actually. It cost less money than a chemistry degree and there is more market for it too.
