IMHO, it is better chioce - amount of RAM very often may be more important than CPU speed! But USB 1.1 is a bit slow for hard drive.

Id go for the IBM as other people said you can upgrade your usb and processor speed doesnt matter unlless your gaming. the type of processor matters though because in newer processors intel is prone to overheating (my moms intel fryed last week). If it has a new processor find an AMD. Im geusing it doesnt so go for IBM.

What the heck are you talking about? More likely she didnt have sufficient cooling on the CPU or the Heat sink came loose. Intels are known to have better heat sensors than AMD.

They don't burn up if you take care of your computer and the processor is properly installed. Been overclocking latley or something?

Go with Anything with a Intel Quad-Core and 2GB+ Memory. [For Vista Anyways.]
