Hi, folks,

I have been in touch with the president of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, and I have been asked to set up a chapter of the organization here in the Kansas City area. (I am actually in suburban Johnson County.) If you are interested, or know someone who is interested, please respond to this message.

Merle, thank you very much. The difficult part will be to become "known" publicly as an Asperger's autistic.

yeah, I 'came out' at work and it was OK for a little while ( the lady I had known for years started talking to me like I was three years old, for about three days then forgot to patronize me, and I was glad.) later it got a bit more strange when they started noticing my behaviour didn't miraculously stop and I was still me. Later, they didn't want to know anymore, because it "wasn't like I was going to 'get well' or anything" ( what my cube mate told me).

your mileage may vary. . . and I hope it does.

Thank you. Given it is a college, and (like most colleges these days) places a strong emphasis on diversity, I am hopeful.
