Yeah, I've certainly gathered that. It's the one place you can go off track without people complaining at you, although it can get confusing at times.

People get confused all the time; the key is to always seek to resolve the confusion.

If we don't become befuddled, we never learn.

I'm glad we shook hands, and became friends.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. Thinking about it, I feel as if the confusion on this thread turned out to be a good thing, because it meant having a conversation with someone here. Don't get me wrong, I've talked to people here before but usually infrequently and I often feel a little out of place on this website, and wonder why I keep coming back really. Talking to you has made me feel like I have some presence here though, if that makes sense.

Likewise. :)

It does make sense. We're communicating on a human level.

You're definitely not out of place here on WP.

Yeah, and communicating like this can make all the difference. Are you sure? I certainly feel like I am at times (out of place that is), nearly everyone seems to have their own idiolect, which can take sometime getting used to.

Now, to go with the theme of this thread, do you work in anything IT related at all?

Nope. I'm only a data-entry operator. Been a data-entry operator for 37 years.

And I got my Bachelor's in English and Speech Pathology.

I was a classic autistic person when I was a preschooler---but, ironically, I'm liberal-arts oriented LOL

Autistic man's social faux-pas leads to budding friendship! That's all a bit positive and inspirational for round these parts, isn't it. Whatever next!
Best wishes both of you. :D

Luddites are not often inspired by this sort of thing

It sort of reminds me of a book called "Rainbow" by D.H. Lawrence.

In it, the women were the ones who were inspired by inventions like the railroad; whereas the men wanted to keep to the "old ways." They were inspired by old-fashioned virtues---by the scent of the land.

I was considered a "brainiac" in school.

In retrospect, though, I really wasn't. I had no critical thinking skills until I got to high school.

As I've said in my other post, I'm currently a student studying digital media design and production (filming techniques, sound effects, editing, journalism, and possibly moving onto animation, and 3D modelling.) Which is sort of a mixture of IT, English and Art. There's also some elements of marketing/ advertising in there, so I guess you could say there's some Business Studies in the mix.

Ah, so you like English as well. I have certain bragging rights in my family, because I got the highest grade in English in my immediate family. Granted, I'm also the worst at maths (rivalled only by my aunt who is also terrible at it).
:(

I'm pretty good at practical math/arithmetic.....but really sucky at theoretical math.

Never took trigonometry or calculus. Only got to elementary algebra.

Do you ever think about the association between the film medium and the painting medium?

As in, the relationship between fine art/ traditional artwork, and the film industry? I guess so, sometimes I think about how art has changed over time, and how some of it is simply terrible.

I find much of so-called "abstract" art to be terrible.

However....there is also much to like even in "Abstract Expressionism."

Exactly. I love certain works of Kandisky, and also Picasso, but some abstract work is terrible. I went to an art exhibition once, and some of the paintings were just complete messes, no flow or relationship between the colours, just random scribbles, the kind that you make when I've messed up on a drawing, not when you are drawing the drawing itself!

I like negative space illusions as well, illusions interest me.

It depends upon the illusion; sometimes, they give me a headache.

There's a branch of psychology that deals with illusions.

Have you submitted any art within the Arts/music section of WP?

As far as visual art for me: forget about it. All I can be is an Abstract Expressionist

It was nice to meet you. I have to go home from work now.

Have a nice evening.
