It has come to my attention that there have been attacks between certain people.

A reminder must be said that the Wrong Planet rules state the following:

Attacking an opinion, belief or philosophy is acceptable, but attacking the person making the comments is not.

Remember, freedom of speech is not freedom to talk excrement. If you say something stupid, take the consequences.

And have a guess who is watching you.

Freedom of speech doesn't just give you the freedom to say stupid stuff; it also gives me freedom to mock you when you do.

Hmm... I would think that the statement "freedom to speech is not freedom to talk excrement" would actually be a something to be analyzed rather than dictated.

You are not taking me seriously. Personal attacks will not be tolerated, and this forum has been a sea of Flames for far too long.

The heart of the matter topic

If something is phrased a certain way (and I know how ) you can actually feel as if you have called someone a nasty name. Better than excrement! :P

By blindly ignoring our topics of discourse? If you wanted to be polite, you'd need to examine our culture. That politeness won't do, you need to include a personal attack on Chever and perhaps a bad, insulting joke.

I think that the notion of "too long" can be debated as well.

No, not true. I don't think anything can ever match the feeling of offhandedly calling somebody a "turd-muncher" for no apparent reason.... turd-muncher. :P

well, that statement seem to be ambiguous so it doesn't give a clear idea of what speech is excrement and what is not, which that in itself can be debatable.

Okay, do you want me to be not so polite? Your calling sartreuse a turd-muncher is a personal attack, and if it weren't for the fact that I am sure you were being facetious, I would have taken action.

This is a warning to you all. You have, at best, limited time. As you have not taken my words seriously, I will warn you this much: come December, I will personally clean house in this forum. You have until then to clean your act up.

I'm looking forward to it, myself. I skipped this forum for the first few months of my membership because I am not fond of politics, have no real views on religion, and could not see myself on the level of those who would pontificate the philosophical and metaphysical. A thread I was posting to got thrown in here at one point and I have since grown very attached to the fourm and the members who frequent it. I enjoy how argumentative it gets in here, but could do without the potty mouth name calling. No one has really done it to me, so I have not complained but it still bothers me for some reason. :?

Yeah, well, this section is here for autistics who need more conflict in their life. It is unfortunate that when arguments are weak, name-calling and other schoolyard bullying are resorted to.
