I actually had my walk tested, a normal walk has the heel part of the cycle at .68 seconds mine is .28 . also my feet pull out to the sides.

I did it a lot when I was young. I suppose it was because I'm really discusted by litter so I would step on my tip-toes to avoid it. My sister also does it and now she's got problems with her feet. Strangely enough, I don't. :?

I walk on my toes alot!
I do it at home, or when I think no one's watching.
I actually discoverd it was an aspie thing after taking some aspie test (very aspie, thank you vry much), I thought it was very strange to ask if I tiptoed - everyone does that! Only after asking my NT friends I discovered no one else can do it as good as I!

Yep. Love walking on my toes, did it as a child and still do it today regularly. As someone on the first page said, I also like the springyness.

I've walked on my toes ever since I learned how to walk. We have home movies of me toe-walking on a trip to the zoo when I was 18 months old. I don't toe-walk in certain types of shoes because it's not possible, but I always toe-walk when I'm barefoot. I never will stop toe-walking. I like the sensation of it. I read that it may come about because it eliminates the sensory issue of having to have your whole foot touch the ground. I buy that, because I don't like having my feet on the ground. This is actually the symptom that convinced my mother that I had AS. She had never heard of AS, but when she found out that toe-walking is common, she instantly knew I had it. She never had heard of any other child ever toe-walking, and it always was a mystery to us all why I did it.

I find it interesting everyone's talking about how they like the way it feels or saying they just toe walk in certain situations. I wish that was the case with me. For me it's the only way I've been able to walk as long as I can remember. I don't like the feel of it at all, but from walking that way since I learned to walk, my muscles developed that way, so it's not a choice for me. If I'm thinking really hard I can walk semi-normal for a while but it's very painful. Also, my feet stick way out to the sides.

In bare feet or in socks/slippers, but not in shoes and not in public. I do this because of my training in ballet/gymnastics. I don't think it would occur to me to do it otherwise.

I don't see why people's doctors are getting annoyed at them for toe walking; it's probably better than wearing tight high-heeled shoes like so many women do nowadays, and their doctors don't get on their cases about that.

At home, that's the only way I walk.

On a slippery surface or to keep my balance it is almost automatic to start toe walking.

It is great in my friend's tiny cluttered apartment...the only way to walk without knocking things over...which he hates.... :) ...I don't see how he does it...(walk through his apartment flat-footed without knocking things over)

I noticed that I walk far more often on my toes or balls of my feet when im not wearing shoes, I do sometimes, but when I'm wearing shoes I find it easeir to walk flat-footed for some reason.

Only when I'm walking up stairs and when I'm very tired.
