I feel like I am the only non-vegetarian that hates steak. I also hate seafood, but lots of people don't like seafood. But I have yet to encounter anybody that doesn't look at me crazy when I say I don't LOVE steak.
It is bland and flavorless to me and the texture is AWFUL. It's like chewing stringy rubber. I've tried it different ways, well done to medium rare (the latter being like eating raw hamburger meat...disgusting). I've tried it ground up and made into a burger (2nd worst burger I've ever had).
I am trying to like it... My wife just bought a lot of steaks from a meat market. I have the same issue with chicken, being that it is bland and flavorless and just a lot of pointless chewing, but there are ways that my wife will cook it that make it good.

I can never understand how people can eat red meat rare. Raw is more like it. I'll never eat meat, steak or otherwise that's pink. It has to be well done.

Am I a fan of steak generally? I'd say no more than anyone else.

I am a non-vegetarian that hates steak, so your not alone! The texture of it makes me want to vomit, and the taste usually isnt any better. I like beef jerkey, pepperoni, and some kinds of hot dogs, and thats about the only kinds of meat that I eat.
My parents think I am crazy when they make steaks, and I would rather have a PB & Jelly sandwich

*Good* steak is very hard to come by. Steak is almost like a science, finding the best meat, cooking it properly, etc... I don't care for it much. I hate the gristle/outer part. Medium-rare is the only good way to eat steak IMO, as the juice give it more flavor.

I have always hated steak and always been amazed that other people have described it as a good food. I don't know how long it's been since I ate steak but I don't think I've eaten more than a few bites during my life.

I hate the texture very much. It is horrible. It tastes like what I think would be the texture of cooked tree bark.

And I hate the texture of fish, too.

I don't always hate the texture of chicken. If chicken is cooked for long enough then it becomes soft enough then the texture is okay, or if it's breaded and fried I actually *like* the texture. And it tastes good if it's breaded or has a lot of sauce or a lot of spices. I don't hate chicken.

Pork, though, has a horrible texture and smells horrible too.

I don't like steak all that much either. There are times when I will eat it (usually with BBQ sauce), but I don't like eating it on a regular basis.

That reminded me of a time I went out to lunch with a co-worker. It was burgers, but he complained because he ordered it rare and got it medium. He said, "I want it to moo when I bite into it." :eew:

As for me, I generally don't like steak. If it's ground or cut into strips, like for a Philly cheesesteak, I'll usually like it. I like steak tips. People look at me funny if they offer me a steak and I decline. Then they joke about offering me tofu instead, which is funny because I'd probably prefer the tofu to steak.

For me steak is a occasional treat, I am semi vegetarian, but I still get meat cravings, and when I want a steak I get a well aged t bone or filet mignon

No way man. It's raw not rare. I guess we all have different tastes.

I agree. Steak is tasteless and it sticks in one's teeth. I don't know what people see in it.
Chicken, if done properly, absorbs the flavours of sauces really well.
I'm not a huge fan of most meat. I like pork and turkey; about everything else I just tolerate.

I like the taste of some beef but hate the texture of steaks and roasts. Perhaps it's because my teeth were never straight and chewing has always been lots of work for me. And then I gag trying to swallow oversized pieces. But I like hamburger (with cheese!) and hot dogs (no skin!). On rare occasions I've had steak or roast that was incredibly tender and then it was delightful. I like carpaccio, too.

Lately I've fallen out of love with ground beef for tacos and have switched to ground pork. That's strictly a flavor thing, though.
