Thanks for the response, Maz. Sorry for not responding sooner, I was traveling. Yeah, any kind of physical restraint/feeling confined just makes everything worse for her. The only way she has to kind of deescalate her mood when approaching a meltdown is complete avoidance—usually getting on her phon... |

It's good to hear you get the support you need from your dad and TA, EzraS. If I may ask, do you find the restraint itself calming, or does it just keep you from getting physically out of control until your feelings have calmed down a bit? |

Thanks for sharing, I actually read that before posting. To choose among the sub-headings in the article, the cause is frustration: overwhelm from either sensory or communication problems building up. Such as, repeatedly bumping her head on a lamp. Or repeated calls to customer service. Unfortunatel... |

My wife has AS. When she's in meltdown mode one of the things she does is hit herself hard with the heel of her hand to her forehead. This is not every day, and has never left bruises, but she's worried if there might be lasting effects for this. It's scary for me to watch, but what I figure is happ... |

Thanks for the ideas! We don't own the place, and unfortunately furnishing it is going to be a rather slow job for financial reasons :/ . Maglevsky, do you mean just having those things in the room? Or using them in what way? |

That's how we lost a whole freezer full of goat meat and smoothie supplies a few months back What bothers her the most in our current place is commuting traffic and church bells outside, rather than internal noises. |

Hello, my AS partner is seriously annoyed by noise, whether it's traffic or outside music or a noisy appliance. For Christmas I would like to give her something to help with blocking this. She wears earplugs a lot, but she often has to fuss with them and they don't do a great job, especially if she'... |

Dang, that sounds hard :/ Sorry, I didn't mean to minimize his disorder, I meant "just" to mean that 'he does not have libido issues in addition to his illness,' not to say it doesn't have a huge effect on his life. In April my gf and I decided to live separately, and it instantly became very diffic... |

Thank you all for responding. Learning to deal with parenting is I guess where we're hoping to get ahead now?to reduce the shock of it as much as possible later on, and help us be kind and supportive to each other when things are hard. Babysitting definitely seems like a good option so we know what ... |

Thanks for your honesty momsparky, it's nice to know you guys are able to keep working together as a team even when things don't work. I personally have always hated daycare, especially for infants, but it might be worth looking into if we can find one that's decent. I really worry about an emphasis... |

I am personally not a Christian, though I was raised Episcopalian. My understanding is that the way homosexuality is treated in contemporary Christianity is far, far, overblown compared to its representation in the Bible and relative to other offenses, and this attention is much more political than ... |

Only we haven't had happy fun nakie time for a while, so none of those good helpful hormone releases that help me feel better physically- which means the depression keeps worsening. And actually.... I hadn't put two and two together, but that makes sense now that I think about it. Basically, not on... |
