It sounds like a good opportunity. What do you have to lose? I say go for it. Face your fear by putting one foot in front of the other. If nothing else it will bring novelty.

I wish you the best

I honestly dislike my birthdays. It feels like a day that's supposed to be better, or where I'm supposed to be special, and it isn't better, and people don't treat me any better or different, so it's just disappointing. Every year I try not to have that expectation of it being better than a regular ...

3...I've been a lot worse than this before but I don't feel great either. It's almost 1am and I have to get up at 6am to work. It's only getting later. My job is getting harder and the deadlines are getting tighter. My home-life is stressful because my wife makes all of her stress my stress and I'm ...

As a teen I had that fixation, considered myself a Forever Alone. For me it had a lot to do with not having learned or been taught about how to manage my emotions and especially about how to have relationships (of any kind) with other people. Somehow I was convinced that most intimacy, compassion, c...

Hello,

I used to go on Wrongplanet almost every night as a teen and I randomly felt the urge to come back, just trying to find a way to sleep tonight, or something comforting. I miss this place. It warms my heart to see that this community is still active and thriving.

Wishing you all the best :)

I was diagnosed early. I've hid it my whole life and still do (although I've realized that certain people figure it out anyway). Even though I've known about my autism my whole life, I'm still learning more about what autism is, and more about who I am.

I once had a good friendship with a person that I know has Autism, and I have a good friendship with a person I think has Autism.

I was asked once. I think I could pinpoint the reason I was asked. Wasn't a good experience for me.

I'm a fan of Spencer Reid, from Criminal Minds. I guess there's no way to be sure he's autistic, but I read somewhere that the actor who plays Reid believes Reid has Asperger's and/or traces of schizophrenia.

I looked at my phone and I didn't believe the date it was telling me. I came to trust it, but my initial reaction was that the phone was wrong. That morning felt like Catcher in the Rye. I remember almost failing a quiz and handing it in late. When I handed it in I stood up in the middle of lecture,...

I try never to look at life too broadly while depressed. If I do, it makes me feel worse. I'll tell you what helps for me. You have to keep an eye on where you're going, but I find I'm most content working on small attainable goals. Just take it a day at a time. Try cleaning your room perhaps, not j...

When I was a few years younger, I frequently wanted to think of the world as a movie. It would make everything so much more meaningful, including my lonesome self. It would mean if I did go walking on a warm summer night I might actually find what the night promised. I couldn't deal with that so muc...
