You didn't cause this. OCD, like many mental health problems, has a tendency to first show up in young adulthood - between the ages of 17 and 21. Autistic kids are more prone to OCD than normal. Your step-son is completely typical in this. It was just bad luck that the wedding came at the same time....

Howdy. It's me, Miss NT. I told my ex-Aspie friend several times that if an Aspie guy is with an NT gal they have to learn the "needs" of NT women and this is the need of "connecting". NT women need to feel a "connection" and this is through spending time with them one...

I'm sorry you're hurting. Break-ups sucks. First off, I'll play the wrong assumption police here. "I have an above average IQ and am talented in art and music, but that is not enough to give meaning to relationships that women desire." Women don't go around with score cards. Right? They ar...

You are absolutely free to report posts that break the rules, including where you think a user is being bullied. It's probably best you avoid saying that you've reported someone in the thread though. Seriously. If I remember correctly, I thought I was being light-hearted and trying to stop things f...

As another "Tag"-on, I'll add: I said earlier that my clicking the report button had nothing to do with vindictiveness and I stand by that. This thread, on the other hand, was defiantly motivated by anger, and I can see how it could be perceived as vindictive. I think its likely that I do ...

By all means, go ahead a lock the thread. I won't be upset this conversation is over.

(Am I back-seat-moderating again? I can't even tell. This new rule is going to take some time to get the kinks out.)

I didn't run away. I tended to my life offline. I participated in communities that are smaller and more personal than this and are moderated by people who don't trash-talk others. (Can you imagine walking up to a 40 year old woman and accusing her of throwing a tantrum to her face? Or some of the ot...

I'll say one more thing, and then I'm going to try my best to let this go. Accusing me of "throwing a tantrum" is so very destructive because you're basically making fun of me for my autistic traits. You're making fun of me for autism... on an autism community site. So everyone who reads t...

there's nothing wrong with making a report. This is a board you created, right? I know there are lots of other people involved now, but it was still your creation in the first place. Do you think that having moderators that publicly ridicule people for reporting a post is the way that these boards ...

Your moderator made the following (public) post today: "STOP making frivolous reports. The report button is there for the purpose of reporting broken rules, not "They said something I don't like so now I'm going to throw a tantrum."." This was publicly posted in response to my re...

STOP making frivolous reports. The report button is there for the purpose of reporting broken rules, not "They said something I don't like so now I'm going to throw a tantrum.". Thank you for letting me know how these forums go. For the record, these are your own rules: "Personal att...

Yup, yup, all of this, but I'll also add that many girls who don't get the support they need are diagnosed with anorexia, but their ASD is missed. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/264666.php Wow. That was new to me. All of the girls I knew with anorexia were so socially able. I suppose that...

Does anyone have anything on productive to say on the original topic? Because I was enjoying the conversation.

Hey, now! Be nice. Don't make me call in the moderators. And I'll do it, too. I'm a tattle tail.

I have a rule. If I can't talk sense into someone in two posts, I let it drop. Because after that it just becomes a one-up competition.

The whole concept of disability is a social construct. Each society has decided which behaviors they see as normal and which warrant correction and/or assistance. It seems we've drawn this line in the sand about who is and isn't "on the spectrum." This is mostly about deciding who gets the...
