I'm sure this is an issue commonly dealt with and discussed in this forum, but I guess there's nothing wrong with the classics, so here goes. Problem 1 I fear social contact to the point where I can be resentful of those who are able to achieve it. Even chatting with someone briefly on the Internet ...

I'd say maybe there's a chance people will leave this topic alone now, and finally admit the idea has no merit. Unfortunately, they've had plenty of other chances to see reason, so this probably won't make any difference at all.

Yes, but some concerned, we all just found out that conservatives polititians can't handle their promiscuous children, how will they be able to handle an entire country? ;) If we can find anyone who can handle their promiscuous children, well, that's a person I'd want to vote for. If they could pro...

As for third-hand information, this site: http://www.ktuu.com/global/story.asp?s=8194634 is an Alaskan news site that reported Trig's birth before all this came news. Yes, she did deliver a speech in Texas after her water broke. Yes, she did decide to fly back to Alaska afterwards, instead of rushi...

Ok, but if you look at the evidence as Palin describes it, it's pretty damning. The irresponsible way she handled the birth of Trig, a baby with Down's Syndrome, and 1 month premature, makes me believe even though she wouldn't go through with an abortion, she was trying to make sure he didn't survi...

Personally, if I ever lose my intelligence to the level of a Down syndrome I would hope and pray that someone would put me out of my misery, let alone be born that way. Heck, I’m unhappy that I’m not as intelligent as Einstein. My guess is almost everyone feels the way I do. I'm sorry that you plac...

If you think the 17-year-old daughter of a Republican politician getting pregnant is "a tailor made Republican scandal", obviously your entire knowledge of Republicans comes from hearing about them from Democrats. Even the most strongly conservative ones recognize that mistakes can be made, and they...

With mine, you just need to enter my last name. And my last name is right there in the profile title. It cuts down on automated requests, since programs don't recognize this.

This thread reeks of stupid in many ways. I don't even know where to begin, and I don't think I'll bother. That is all. I assume, based on your attack, that you are a fan of some or all of the books we are talking about not liking. You also seem to be operating on the belief that it takes a greater...

I'm the same way after meeting someone I like. Even if I do okay with talking to them and not making a fool out of myself, I worry that I won't succeed the next time. In my experience, this worry is ungrounded. I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Sounds like you know exactly what I mean. Probably even more so, since it happened to you in real life. I haven't actually met anyone close to being like that, but I'm almost positive there are people who I could be comfortable around. I'm sure there are many people who feel the same way.

As far as i've read so far in this thread nobody has taken any potshots at other people, just at some books they don't like. Maybe it's the aspie in me that can't read how others are feeling but I wrote this reply because i felt you thought you'd been personally attacked, which is absolutely not th...

I always tried to get permission to work alone, which usually worked. When group work was unavoidable, the other members typically wanted to get out of doing any work, so I was happy to do it alone so they could get credit. It was an arrangement that worked for everyone.

It isn't very often that I have dreams I wish I didn't have to wake up from, but my last one qualifies. There was a place, kind of like a social club, for people with AS. There, I wasn't worried about coming off as weird, and I was able to be myself without fear. I was confident, and I had friends. ...

Seems like a vicious cycle to me... success begets confidence and confidence begets success, yet success cannot be had without confidence, and confidence is very difficult to come by without something close to success.
