I started a petition on Change.org that I think everyone here can get behind. I was motivated to start this petition after reading this blogpost by Amy Sequenzia http://autismwomensnetwork.org/sharisa-joy-kochmeister-give-her-back-the-right-to-communcate/ Sharisa is a non-verbal autistic woman who l...

I'm 30 and still get asked for ID regularly. When I was 21 I went with my sister who was 16 to a 15+ movie. I was asked for ID and she was not. I do look more or less the same as I did at age 17. This is something I have noticed about many people with AS. I wonder if it has something to do with not ...

I have an undergrad degree in economics and finance. Since landing an awesome and rewarding job with that degree I have also done a diploma of management. My only life long 'special interest' has been money. From money I have branched out into things like economics, finance (duh), business systems, ...

G'day Bill. I just had to look up the word hikikomori and I don't think that applies to me, but I am definitely hermit like. I avoid social situations and find it difficult to be in a conversation with more than 2 or 3 people. When I go shopping I pick the quiet times. At the shops I try not to make...

Over the years I have had several girlfriends. My favourite girlfriend, who is the only one I miss and the only one I would take back was diagnosed with high functioning autism when she was in high school. The fact that I got along with her better than the others has always struck me as unusual, tho...

I just remembered a time in high school where I went up to a fellow student that I hadn't spoken to for about two years and told him about how I had been having very strange recurring dreams. He went inside the classroom sat down and never spoke to me again. That use to be very confusing for me. Mak...

Thanks for saying hello everyone. The last week has been so strange for me. I have suddenly become fully aware of the affect I can have on the people around me and I finally realise it is not because lots of people are jerks. I can't help wonder how many people close to me might have already known. ...

Hi there. I'm very glad to have found this forum. It feels like a dream come true to have found a group of people that I can maybe share some experiences with, which in the past I have been unable to share in a very meaningful way and which I thought were unique to me. A few nights ago I watched thi...
