Hello. I am a tad skeptical about this place, so rather than spill out a ton of info about me that may or may not be demanding of the reader both emotionally and psychologically, I'll simply allow you to ask me any questions that I shall answer. Very well. What is the airspeed of an unladen swallow...

All's well that ends well, one supposes. She's home now; the CPS worker will make a "health and safety" visit sometime in the next week, but that shouldn't be any big deal. Jason and I still have to talk to a police detective, but I can't see how that could go awry, considering they did a ...

If you talk to yourself to remind you of something and keep track of things and keep doing it even though you know what to do and have echolalia!Because um  I tend to do that a lot *hides* When I was in Air Force Basic Training, a rumor started that I was a plant from the Air Force Office of ...

My issue with the concept of a "cure" is that autism is a neurological distinction, not a neurochemical one. The only possible "cure" would involve radical neurosurgery at damn near the molecular level. And if my brain is that radically restructured, am I still me? How can I poss...

Ups and downs and all arounds. Last Tuesday, I finally got in to see the mental-health counseling service my gummint healthcare would cover. They weren't qualified to diagnose ASD, but after an interview, the psychologist who saw me ruled out schizophrenia, BPD, and anxiety disorder, so pretty much ...

I groove to the ideas presented in the "Inferno" of Dante's Divine Comedy . I kind of like the interpretation in Niven and Pournelle's "Inferno" (where we follow the adventures of SF author Allen Carpentier in Hell). They proposed that Hell might be God's last-ditch attempt to get our attention - i...

I was misdiagnosed as schizotypal when I was in the Air Force, in 1989, because the DSM-IV hadn't come out yet, so the psych refused to consider the possibility of autism because I wasn't low-functioning. Instead, he decided my flatness of affect was because I didn't feel emotions and couldn't under...

Jean-Paul Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." Most days I'm inclined to agree.

One of the markers of true adulthood is when you stop caring whether someone thinks what you do is "childish". I'm 50 years old, and I play an MMO where I'm a superhero, and another where I captain a starship. On my console, I play Mass Effect and Minecraft. And I can be occasionally found on the fl...

String theory actually calls for ten or eleven dimensions, but most of them curl up on themselves and are undetectable. Therefore, most of string theory is nonfalsifiable, and useless until it produces testable predictions.

My contact in Kiev (yes, due to the vagaries of the Internet, I have a contact in Kiev) tells me that the situation is complicated by the fact that both sides are willing to hire "protesters" to fill the ranks on their side for cash. And given the economic situation in Ukraine, they apparently aren'...

I propose this because I notice scientists claim lots of stuff but never talk about details. 1. The "universe" supposedly is expanding faster than the speed of light (which supposedly should be impossible). It is space that is expanding faster than light. That is not forbidden in relativity theory....

The United Federation of Planets is governed by an elected council, with representatives from every major member planet. Given the tendency of Humans to settle anywhere at least marginally habitable, they do wind up dominating the political scene; however, other species do get a look-in. (In the MMO...
