Sounds like there's a pretty major improvement for you there, though fleeting. If only they could make a tablet to ease anxiety significantly which doesn't make you feel zombified eventually. I have taken, at some stage, all of the SSRIs prescribed in the UK - except Paxil - and must admit that I di...

Severe insomnia for me and I really hate it. As has been said, my day goes much worse when I'm tired. I'd been taking anti-depressants for years which meant I could fall asleep quicker and not wake up as much, yet I never fully felt refreshed in the morning. I thought having a routine sleeping time ...

Not had any success when I've dabbled briefly in online dating. Wondering what's left when the online thing and real life don't lead anywhere? Maybe I'll try virtual reality dating next...

My dad says that I am just "too lazy" to make friends instead of being anxious. Mostly, it is me facing a fear of predicting something bad will happen such as me getting rejected from the group for being awkward, not having anything to say and suffer severe awkwardness or getting lost goi...

I'm also a late bloomer. Won't get my Accountancy degree until next year and have very sketchy job history, with only my internship as relevant work experience in my field. I do wish I'd done the degree years ago. I'm less bothered by my relatively under-developed career than I am about lack of prog...

Come to think of it, never. What's so special about it? Eye contact is particularly unnerving, and makes taking in what the other communicant is saying, rather difficult! The maximum time I can maintain eye contact with someone I'm not close to seems to be about 5 seconds or so, and that's when I'v...

I'm pretty quiet for the most part, since I very seldom have anything to say to anyone. I don't have a problem with that, but some people do. Their problem IMO. The silence isn't awkward, annoying or boring for me. It only bothers me if I wanna get to know someone, or wish to reach out, but don't k...

Don't really have a lot of great advice, else I would be a lot more successful in making connections than I have been. I'm with you completely in that I desperately want to connect with people, beyond just the introductory level with a certain amount of tried-and-tested small talk, but can't get bey...

It's been mentioned in a previous post, but I feel being patronised is a possible, if not likely, symptom of disclosing my diagnosis. At least to those members of my extended family. I really don't want to lower expectations of my capabilities in their minds, should they apply their perception of th...

I don't hear this expressed at all any more, now that I'm an adult. I would be quite offended if someone did. I was definitely told to as a kid in school, when I didn't have a diagnosis and the teachers probably thought I was being disrespectful. Though, when talking to someone and doing my usual ha...

In my own experience - I'm not sure if it's a sensory issue - but I can only go a certain amount of time before I have to rest my hand on the lower part of my face and press against it, else my eyes start to get really sensitive and even water. Again, not sure if it's a light sensitivity or more tac...

I too identify with a lot of the feelings discussed, especially getting burned out really quickly when other people are around, or at least when a certain level of social contribution is required on my part. I can sit in my busy office all day surrounded by people with no issues, but 30 minute meeti...

Welcome to the forum. I'm new here myself. You've had a rough deal of late and I feel for you there. At 26, I'm recently diagnosed and going through a lot of the same emotions. I'm looking for hope again that I might be able to make some meaningful progress - something which seemed stronger before t...

Hi people,

Just a quick hello to announce my presence :)

Diagnosed with ASD last year and trying to gain a bit more insight into my condition, so I'll be a keen reader of the many interesting topics of the forum, hopefully getting the confidence to chime in eventually.

Thanks
