In addition to the 'spectrum', I like to think there's a whole range of neurotypes and neuro-features.

Just like human voices all sound different, and dogs come in so many sizes and colours...

So if you happen to have a certain amount of 'neuro-features', then that qualifies for being autistic.

Yea, it's not unusual to have ASD and ADHD. I think I might have both. (May get an ADHD assessment to confirm.)

I don't talk very much, and have a very neutral/angry-looking face - This makes people feel intimidated around me, and make them think I'm not interested in them. I'm working on being curious about people, and (since I'm not good at expressing emotion) expressing my emotion, interest and relation in...

Don't have OCD myself.

I watched an advertisement, for a major airline company, where the speaker was an engineer, and said something along the lines of, "I'm a perfectionist. Some would say I have OCD." And I thought that was probably inappropriate.

Yes, these are great ideas thank you. I don't like the idea of having to travel far in order to do volunteer work (if I had a paid job in the same area, then it probably wouldn't be such a big deal)

I'm not very social. So that may limit the kinds of tasks people will accept me for.

Hello hello! Anyone have suggestions on volunteer work suitable for an Aspie? Something I can do regularly, say once per week or fortnight? How to approach organisations and increase my odds of getting a job? I'm a bit picky about "getting my hands dirty". I don't mind, say, planting trees...

I can deal with stress. But people assume I hate the world, when I simply have resting b***h face.

Can autistic people do customer facing roles? To me it seems like teaching a dog to fly an airplane. It seems to be a necessity in many industries. Yet (I assume) when people see that I'm female, and not smiley, warm and friendly, then I'm not good for business. If I was collecting money for charity...

Freeze dried coffee makes me restless and anxious - but I blame that on additives. I don't think it has anything to do with being on the spectrum. Have you tried fair trade instant coffee ? Usually it doesn't have additives and it tastes great, nothing like Nescafé-style crap. It's worth its price....

Yes. When someone appears to be the slightest bit different, suddenly they are a monster.

What is it with people who think autistic people "belong together"!? It drives me mad!

Autism is not a lifestyle choice. I don't choose a partner because they are autistic. If I happen to find out later, that's another thing... but I don't specifically seek out autistic partners.

Should I perhaps consider moving to another city? I'm currently in Melbourne, and have been here all my life. Is Melbourne/Australia known to be particularly discriminatory towards people with ASD? Is there a city/country that is more open-minded to ASD? Or should I be looking at types of jobs/indus...

Hahaha, nope. I think the whole reason why I'm not employed is because I'm autistic. I don't behave the way woman "should", and don't make the "right" facial expressions... etc... I think the key for anyone with autism is to find their niche and then everything just clicks into p...

Just because you can't see the dirt or germs, doesn't mean it's not there. <- Reason why I'll never get a job as a cleaner.

A moderate amount of caffeine alleviates headaches, tension, or pain.

Freeze dried coffee makes me restless and anxious - but I blame that on additives. I don't think it has anything to do with being on the spectrum.
