Slightly off topic here... Claire, do you happen to be an INFP? (Myers-Briggs) Please don't feel obliged to answer if you don't want to. I know it's a nosy question. :) I'm just really interested in how our ways of thinking impact how we discuss certain topics. Some of what you say reminds me of how...

I think this would be unwise. Even if a woman puts up with that sort of dishonesty, she will not like it (masochists excluded  ). Besides which, you sound like a thoughtful person. I think you'd be doing yourself a double disservice to behave in a dishonest way when it seems like being earnest...

Fancy meeting you here, gwenevyn. How ya been? Pretty good! You, too, I hope. It feels nice to be back on. It's more like you love their soul and want what is best for them. But by this definition, don't most of us love pretty much everybody, by varying degrees? Realistically, people outgrow situat...

Thank you for sharing this. If you can say you honestly once loved him but now you wish him dead, then I will admit I am wrong.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply I think you're mistaken. I really can't say it with certainty. I'd need a very precise definition of love to work with.

I like this conversation. I feel that I'd have to define "love" in order to contribute much though. That's always quite a challenge. I will say that the Prager quote makes good sense to me. We owe our children our care and affection while they are young, no matter how they behave. It's especially im...

Usually posters take a nice big piss on my replies because they complain I sound "too confrontational." I think it can be difficult to present information in a way that minimizes your chances of offending someone. It's something I've worked hard at because I find unnecessary conflict to be botherso...

I'm semi-obsessed with hands. I'm pretty sure I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which involves (among other things) some hypermobility and hyperextensibility of certain joints. I like to compare what I can do with my fingers and toes with what other people can do. I try not to ask too often though. It ...

It depends on the emotional state I'm in. I go through periods where I find it quite easy. Then I go through periods where I have a great deal of anxiety about replying--even to the degree that I find it impossible to do so. Sometimes I feel I can't even bring myself to read the replies, if I get to...

The next poster has never tasted raw cow milk but would like to do so.

They actually make fun of what you say? That seems deliberately hurtful. Or am I misunderstanding?

Your post strongly reminds me of the way my partner used to write, a few months before we got together.

So, you see, I have a hard time believing that nobody likes you. :)

 This is the funniest thing I've read in a long time. It's really about a certain class of white people formerly referred to as "yuppies"(except now they're getting older...)

There are so many around here.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I wonder what you were supposed to "get" about the heart.
