Is it some kind of placebo effect that is making them think they are warm? I'm actually wondering if the placebo effect is what makes neurodiverse people so diverse. Maybe we are just more resistant or even immune to the placebo effect, or more precisely the Pavlovian conditioning that is so common ...

Call them what you want, but where I live in upstate New York they are worn by 90% of the female population ages 9-90. Now that it is getting colder they are still wearing them, and some even with winter jackets. I wonder how long they will keep wearing them? Is this some kind of new cinnamon/tide p...

I have been reading about the online features being limited. Most people seem upset about it but I think that it could be a good thing. There is many reasons, but people interacting in person is always a good thing in my book.

Ehhh. I'll be playing Smash online once that comes out. I do have Lego Worlds, but I do the PC version of that, there's no reason for me to do the console one. It is a darned good game though, yeah? I was super impressed by it. Honestly just briefly mentioning it here makes me wanna dive back into ...

What is the goal you would hope to achieve by changing the criteria for functioning labels? Is it to get better services? Someone who is nonverbal vs. someone who is possibly intellectually above average but socially and emotionally behind and "fails to launch" will be dealing with very d...

Sofisol612, you need to talk to people over 70 about their college experience. Or just read history. The baby boomer generation happened for many reasons, but one reason is education grants. While some lucky people had jobs waiting for them when they came back from WWII, many found that education gr...

I don’t think functioning levels are that bad... I will never think I have as many difficulties as non verbal autistics who have intellectual disabilities and are considered low functioning and mostly unable to work. However, I would like people to understand that being a high functioning autistic ...

Turning 37 on February 17th. Not much longer until I am a 40-year-old virgin. Not my choice, either. I talk to women at least once a month.

It does not make sense to classify me as high functioning when I have not had a friend or job in over 10 years. People are changing and I can't seem to change with them. I may have been high functioning 10-20 years ago but I certainly am not now.

Wolves - second only to turtles <3 I am sorry if my post offended anyone, I guess I should have posted this in the Adult section. I just figured it was OK since it was not in the General section. Hey, I like turtles too! I remember having a turtle because of the Ninja Turtles, even before the first...

I voted "Hitler who?" Also, it is not possible to "have" Autism any more than it is possible to "have" Caucasian. You can be Caucasian and you can be Autistic. The toothbrush mustache is a style that first became popular in the United States in the late 19th century. Bu...

I have not heard this in a long time! Good memories, though, because I still like to use the related phrase "Why don't you take a picture, it'll last longer!"

Autism is a personal pronoun in the way that it identifies a person. This seems like a good time to challenge the question with another question. While this person did not ask the question explicitly, they did make you question indirectly. Asking a related question can sometimes show the error inher...

Grow up. Name-calling is a cognitive bias and a technique to promote propaganda. The method is intended to provoke conclusions and actions about a matter apart from an impartial examination of the facts of the matter. When this tactic is used instead of an argument, name-calling is thus a substitut...

I believe we're getting far more prudish. If a woman wants to bare her tits, let her. I totally agree. Here in the state of New York, police will arrest a woman even though it is NOT illegal for a woman to go topless. The law was changed in 1992. My post is to bring to light the fact that people ar...
