When I'm lucky enough to make a friend, I see their mind's inner workings and slowly put together the pieces of their unique puzzle, so that I know what makes them happy, sad, or anything in between, so that I can try and be a good friend to them. I also work out their emotions, experiences and opin...

I recently made my first ever online friend, as I don't talk to anyone when I'm not at school so getting to know people online helps my loneliness tremendously. I also find that I can form sentences a lot more fluently and clearly online than in real life, and they're less random/weird/socially unac...

To speak in front of a group, what I do is convince myself that I'm someone else, preferably someone powerful that has/had an influence on others. It gives me a lot of confidence. Plus, if I make a mistake, it's not really 'me' that's made a mistake, it's someone else... 8O

Well, there is a condition called complex PTSD https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_post-traumatic_stress_disorder that could possibly mimic Asperger. But it's equally possible that much of what you experienced was caused by Asperger not the other way around. While medical conditions and death of ...

So there aren't any conditions that could resemble an ASD that are caused by stress?

Would it be more likely that stress causes autism to become more noticeable?

First thing, I haven't posted on here in ages, but I'm back again now! :) Secondly, background information. I was seen by a psychiatrist and they are putting me on the waiting list for an autism assessment, as they "strongly suspect" I have an ASD (after 6 weeks of seeing me). In the 15 ye...

I don't think I've ever really experienced "missing someone".

I think people pretend to be interested in my interests and then I get really excited because I think they are genuinely interested, and I go on and on about them until they walk away and then I realise they weren't actually interested at all. I can't tell if someone's genuinely interested or not.

Today I whistled constantly for about an hour, but it wasn't a tune, it was lots of long notes that went up in pitch, it sounded almost like screaming

Anyone else stim by whistling?

Who else here uses duolingo.com ? (It's the best free site for languages) I use duolingo, but only to reinforce the German that I've already learned. I don't use it to learn new languages because I don't think it's the best way, and the speakers on it sound very robotic and unnatural. I prefer to u...

I often repeat words or phrases out loud for hours before I can stop. I don't know why I do it but I'm the only person I know of that does it.

My most recent word (a few days ago) was "scythes".

Anyone else do this?

Yes, I remember the main features of someone's face rather than the whole thing. I can't remember faces of people who don't have unique features.
