The sensation of wet wood is very irritating.
The feel of wood popsicle sticks against my tongue causes serious goose bumps. I get the same reaction from washing wooden kitchen utensils.
I've never heard of anyone else having this weird sensory issue! |

When ever I'm in a situation that has a lot of rules, I tend to look for ways to "game" them. When I started working for a utility district they had a policy that allowed you to get a day off after you were "on call" for a week. But you had to use the day off within a couple of w... |

For some reason, I find the image of things oozing through screens quite disgusting. The repetition of certain shapes, like insect eggs is also pretty hard to look at. |

A lot of time aspies are late bloomers. For some the process of having to cope in a NT environment gets one used to the idea of having to work harder than the average person. If you can avoid the pitfalls of despair, depression, or drugs you might just find yourself quite successful as you get older... |

In a group of 4 people don't talk more than 25% of the time, in a group of 5 people don't talk more than 20% of the time. You get the idea. |

Motion sickness seems to be a genetic "condition". In my family either you have it or you don't, and I definitely have it! Cars on curvy roads, boats in rough conditions, amusement park rides, and turbulent airplane flights are all the kiss of death. Over the counter motion sickness meds w... |

I generally like to follow rules if they seem logical, or necessary, but tend to disregard rules if they seem arbitrary, or make no sense. I think one reason aspies are rule oriented is that rules provide stability in a seemingly chaotic world that can be hard for many of us to understand. |

CartoonConsumer, I grew up in Skagit County and my recommendation would be to try Mt. Vernon. It's a little bigger than Burlington, and Sedro Woolley, plus Woolley is right at the foot of the Cascades, and when it's not raining it can still be socked in with clouds for weeks! Western Washington is a... |

Sometimes when someone is being very kind, like when I go to the library, and the librarian is explaining something to me, I get very relaxed and zoned out. I don't know if my brain is producing Alpha waves, or what, but my wife and I call it the "flattered feeling". It doesn't happen very often, bu... |

John, thanks for writing this book! Like you I've managed to negotiate life fairly successfully, but it seems like I have to work twice as hard as the average person to constantly deal with thinking about eye contact, and small talk. Throw in a good case of ADD and it's enough to wear a person out. ... |

Ottawaman, I urge you to support your son in whatever legal endeavor he choses to pursue. It is better to fail at fulfilling your passon than it is "succeed" at something you don't love. I've always had people try to limit me with low expectations, only to prove them wrong over time. Give him your s... |
