Still, I don't think it's possible for most people (there are exceptions) to be happy or fulfilled unless they have support from friends and loved ones of some sort in real life. . Social support definitely helps, but keep in mind that many people who have social support still face challenges 1. Bu...

Not sure if you know this or not, blitzkrieg, but Stalin actually did reduce the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church during World War 2 (your post pointed out that the purges ended in '39, though I'm not sure if you knew the reason). Stalin's motivation was mostly to use the church to help k...

I'm more concerned about what AI could do in the hands of malicious people than I am about the AIs themselves. From my understanding (and I'm far from an expert, so correct me if I'm wrong), AIs are still pretty limited in their "thinking". The Chat AIs, for instance, just analyze language...

I don't (much) mind giving up money to pay for taxes. It's not fun, but I get that it's the price of living in civilization.

But I hate, hate, hate the process and paperwork.

A lot of this stems from social isolation, and I think a big part of that comes from the fact that digital interaction is becoming so prominent. It's obviously not a bad thing that people can talk online, but I don't think online communities can completely satisfy most people's needs for socializat...

So something is ethical simply because it's not murder? Is slavery ethical? Slavery of sentient beings is unethical, its perfectly fine to enslave unconscious beings. I asked because you said sterilization was ethical because it wasn't murder. What are you standards for ethics? Who makes the decisi...

So you're worried about the human impact on Earth to the point where you want to sterilize people, but you are against abortion? Sterilization is not murder so its ethical. Sterilization is not actually that effective in eliminating hereditary illness. Ignoring ethical issues, sterilizing everyone ...

Japan was also notorious for thinking ...in the long term of decades. In contrast to the US mentality of only thinking as far ahead as the next election. It is an Asian thing, and it cultural, not racial. Whether the China is doing it (it would be totally in character if they did) and whether it wo...

Evidence? It was a long time ago and I don't have the website links. That's not very persuasive. Okay, so who gets sterilized then? Human birthrates are actually already going down in most parts of the world, partly due to greater availability of contraception, spread in women's rights, and so fort...

That attitude was instilled in them by CCP saboteurs, it will take time to overcome. Do you have evidence of this? Of course not, its not like the CCP is going to come forward and admit it. So how do you know there are CCP saboteurs seeding California if you don't have evidence? Well it seems highl...

The only notable LGBT Nazi was Ernst Rohm. Hitler only kept him around because he was useful in organizing some of the street thugs; once that was no longer important, Hitler had him killed. There's no evidence that Hitler himself was gay. It's a known fact that LGBT individuals were targeted in th...

I hate to say it, there's a reason no one makes 100 year plans - those plans will be obsolete on far shorter time horizons. It's hard to even make a five year plan these days with how rapidly economic and security vulnerabilities are changing. What they have, OTOH, is the biggest demographic house ...
