So many Disney villains have met their demise by falling that TV Tropes calls it the Disney Villain Death: The Wicked Witch-Queen in Snow White Gaston in Beauty and the Beast Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame Scar, although the fall itself didn't kill him, he was just weakened enough for the hy... |

^ I heard Rebecca Clarke's piano trio played live once. Astonishing piece! (My recorder is progressing slowly, but I'm enjoying it.) Sonata in B Major by John Field. An obscure Irish pianist-composer who was a pupil of Clementi and a major influence on Chopin. I've had the sheet music for this sonat... |

The word "Dictator" comes from the Roman Republic. There, dictators were granted temporary authority over the other state officials. They were appointed to lead the state during times of acute crisis such as plagues, civil strife and any war that threatened the city itself. They stood down... |

I love Clint's Reptiles' phylogeny videos. IRRC, this is the one where go goes off on one about an old-fashioned professor who basically delayed his doctorate for a year over the "monkey question". Other interesting implications of monophyly: You can't have a clade of "lizards" t... |

^ I love the Ysaye Sonatas!
Wearing my recorder-nerd hat - I found one of Vivaldi's concertos for the incredibly high-pitched sopranino recorder. The slow movement is quite something.

Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto no. 4 in C minor. I didn't realise he'd written any until fairly recently.

Alt-right types always insist (sometimes at great length) that they're NOT racists. So, why do they feel personally attacked by a satirical article VERY specifically mocking extreme rascists? Sus. |

To me, it makes no sense to say that humans have emotions but all other animals don't. Why would emotions have been invented out of nowhere just for one species? I think emotions are basically the way complex animals decide what to do. |
