Since you have a counselor, it might help to have that person to make a quick call on your behalf explaining your situation in the future. I think it would help to show you have an advocate. I think a doctor office and the like are less likely to treat you badly or dismiss you, if they know you hav...

Meltdowns are caused by an accumulation of stress and sensory overload. When you get to your limit it could be the most minor thing that sets it off. You need to identify the things that are stressing you and try to lesson them as much as possible. Sensory overload somtimes is obvious and sometimes...

Most of my appointments are done with only half my thoughts on them because I don't usually know what they're sa...

I'm really a stickler for change. I will freak out and have the worst meltdowns if things get changed, and especially last notice. So I get a phone call Monday for "my orthopedic" telling me that they're not going to see me Tuesday unless I bring money into the appointment. Well, I only wo...

I went through a whole list of different diagnosis growing up. ADD, schizophrenia, bipoloar, depression. Last year I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and after doing some more research on it, found a lot of it made sense. Unfortunately in my case, my dad and his mom do not think that I have A...

I was diagnosed last year in March a few months before my 29th birthday with Asperger's syndrome. A lot of stuff that happened to me as a child finally kind of clicked into place. I'll be 30 next month, and I still have a lot of meltdowns. I feel like if I had been diagnosed earlier in life, I could...
