Hi, I wish I could give you good advice but I'm not a psychologist and I don't want to say anything that could misguide you. However I hope you know you're not alone, and you deserve someone to talk to who can help you. I know going through anxiety, depression and intrusive thought is horrible and y...

Hi Jack! I can definitely relate to what you're saying. I think it's typical for many Aspies to feel neurotypical sometimes and more Aspie other times - for example, you may feel more socially confident one day or more empathetic than usual like an NT, and then another day you wake up and you feel a...

I'm an Aspie, and I'm considering applying for a job at a bookstore. Maybe there is an independent bookstore with few customers near you where you can work? That way you don't have to be put in anxious situations and you can keep to yourself a little more if you like. I'm the same as you and am look...

Hello. I am the same age as you, and was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder - level 1. If your country uses the DSM-V, then you would be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. If your country doesn't, then they would probably use the ICD-10, which does not have autism spectrum disorder, and ...

Bad news: the anxiety doesn't go away; good news: with time you learn to navigate broader contexts without being disabled by it. And establish broader contexts within which you can employ your exceptional skills, and that can make all the difference. Thank you so much, I do find new situations toug...

Glad you feel more certain now!! ! As everyone else has said, it's quite normal to doubt about this kind of things at this age, so try not worry much and the answer will arrive by itself soon (it's what I'm doing too). Good luck!! :D Thank you so much, I really appreciate hearing your story too! I ...

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all of the replies recently. I was on the train a couple of days ago and noticed many attractive males, and am starting to feel more comfortable at the idea of a relationship with one, as in the anxious feeling is starting to become less strong though it is still t...

Welcome to WP! May I ask, what are you interested in? Thank you! I'm interested in English literature, and helping people meaning I want to become a doctor or psychologist and am interested in science. I am very interested in people, and tend to become obsessed with them at times, despite now knowi...

I'm...well past my teenage years, windinthewillows5. All the same, I can recall a lot of relevant bits and, despite differences in gender, relate to what you are talking about. Coming to terms with great intelligence can end up feeling...really peculiar. For me, it feels like I have a great amount ...

Yes! The uncertainty of it all gives you so much anxiety, I can relate!! MM99 I'm sure you'll feel more certain soon - what I'm trying to do is go with the flow as much as I can and try my best to feel okay with myself. Then what ever happens, happens! Good luck :)

Thank you so much for the recent replies, they were really helpful! It's nice to know I'm not alone in feeling this way - it's so confusing when you don't know for sure because it's such a core aspect of your identity and your life!! I agree it will become clear with experience I think. Thank you so...

Exactly! It's horrible because you feel like the progress you have made suddenly falls apart. I wish I were more eloquent but I hope that maybe as I grow older things will fit into place easier, although I'm aware I'll always find certain things difficult.

I can understand that must be really hard - I know what you mean, sometimes social situations can suddenly get really hard and you just need to escape. They can be so overwhelming!!

I have so many favourite movies, they all make me feel differently! The ones that immediately come to mind are The Perks of Being a Wallflower (and the book is my favourite too, I really recommend it!), Coraline, because I love stop motion animation as it makes the movie more unique. Coraline is an ...
