I used to do. A lot. I was diagnosed around age 7. Which I have no recollection of for some reason apart from being at a psychiatrists office once because I got a pretty stone afterwards as one of those good-job-things children get after appointments, and my mom and I got lost on our way home, but I...

I had many toxic relationships in the past. At least one of them was most probably in the narcissistic spectrum but since I'm not a mental health professional, I can't possibly know. For a long time I thought I was the problem, that I don't know how to pick good partners. That's not what I think no...

What is the definition of "emotional abuse"? The alleged victim has a larger definition than the defendant The dictionary is too vague Exploiting others, manipulating others, bullying others, basically making people, typically people close to you that you are "supposed" to love ...

“My person” has a borderline diagnosis but I’m quite convinced they’re sociopathic and a covert narcissist too. I used to think they were on the autism spectrum, actually, and used that as an excuse for their low empathy, but I’ve come to think that they’re most definitely not. They show signs I gu...

As far as I've found, through research, there are 2 different types of empathy. Affective and cognitive. Autistic people tend to lack cognitive empathy as opposed to affective empathy. This doesn't make us bad people. It doesn't mean that we don't care about other people or their emotions, just that...

I relate to this so much. So at least I can assure you that you certainly are person and that you're not alone feeling this way. I've found it manifests in different ways. One is in the form of a belief. In my experience, this tends to be triggered by low self-worth, a feeling of inadequacy, and pos...

Have you ever been emotionally abused? I’m thinking that emotional abuse, especially in the form of manipulation, may be difficult for people on the autism spectrum to recognise or understand. I know it took me a long time, and it still confuses me. I myself was in a toxic relationship with an emot...

Yes, I was bullied as a teenager at an all-girls high school, which involved a lot of emotional abuse by multiple people whom I had previously considered as close friends. I learnt some harsh lessons, namely that there that people can turn on you when you would have never done the same back. I mana...

I'm guilty of this too and have done it in a very inappropriate situation before.
Honestly though, I don't think most people care or take offense. If they're aware that it's an awkward or uncomfortable situation or topic, they're probably understanding

I do experience dissociation, both depersonalization and derealization, and have for the past 3 years. It first appeared when I fell into depression for the first time due to prolonged stress and anxiety. It's something that I haven't found a cure for, unfortunately, though it definitely seems to wo...

I've realized that I actually don't have a clear understanding of forgiveness. What does it mean to forgive? I've always assumed that it meant to change your mind and believe that what someone did actually was alright and then forget about it. But is it? Because if so, I'm unable to do that. I tend ...

I know the feeling and how hard it can be. Though you said he's a friendly and popular person, so that's most likely why he wants to hang out with this girl. He wants to have many friends. That doesn't mean he doesn't love you as his girlfriend though or that he's gonna cheat. Acknowledging that the...

Thanks for the replies! Independence does seem to be the best thing for me to focus on right now. I am still very dependent on them financially and can't afford to live on my own yet. Hopefully it'll all get better in time.
